okay so first of all go to home and then editing and replace and weamp;#39;re going to find the word butt and replace it with the word the then go to more and format and highlight and then replace all and itamp;#39;s made 866 replacements so what this is doing is finding every single occurrence of the word the in this document and then replacing it with the word the but highlighted so in this way we can highlight every occurrence of the word ver in this document now the color that is chosen is the color in this box here so if you want a different color you need to select it then in order to avoid actually having to highlight something click on the box again and then this time weamp;#39;ll go to editing and replace and weamp;#39;ll find the word and the highlighting is still applied and then there are some options down here which you can choose from so for example if I select match case this will make it case sensitive so it will matter whether the letters are capital letters or not

Protected or restricted documents can impact highlighting functionality due to editing or formatting restrictions. If a document has password protection or restricted editing, it may limit your ability to highlight text.
However, carelessly leaving the cap off a highlighter can lead to the tip drying out. You can bring the highlighter tip back to life -- providing there is still fluid in the marker -- with a simple dousing in rubbing alcohol.
Check Word Options: There might be settings in Word that are affecting this functionality. Go to File Options. Under the Advanced tab, check the options in the Editing options section. Make sure that options like Allow text to be dragged and dropped are checked.
Select the text that you want to highlight. Go to Home and select the arrow next to Text Highlight Color. Select the color that you want. Note: Use a light highlight color if you plan to print the document by using a monochrome palette or printer.
Click the File tab. From the left menu, select Options at the bottom. In the Word Options dialog, click Proofing. Check the boxes for Check spelling as you type and Mark grammar errors as you type.
Select the desired words using your mouse or keyboard by holding down shift and dragging/moving your cursor across the text you wish to highlight. Next, search the toolbar for a little pencil icon, next to the icons for bold and italic. When you hover over the pencil icon it should say Highlight color.
- Check editing permissions: If the file is protected or has restricted editing permissions, you wont be able to select or highlight text. You may need to remove the read-only restriction from the Word document or request editing permissions from the document owner.
