What happens when your EGT gets too high? Nothing good! Certain parts of your engine can fail due to the excessive heat produced. This can affect your turbocharger, cylinder head, head gasket, exhaust manifold, and pistons.
Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT)
In a piston engine, EGT is a measurement of the temperature of the exhaust gases at the exhaust manifold. As the temperature of the exhaust gas varies with the ratio of fuel to air entering the cylinders, it can be used as a basis for regulating the fuel/air mixture entering the engine.
The exhaust gas temperature indicates the effective use of the heat energy of a fuel. The heat loss in the exhaust pipe or an increase in the exhaust temperature reduces the conversion of heat energy of the fuel to work.
The purpose of the EGT sensors is to monitor exhaust gas temperatures (at various locations on the exhaust) as an electrical voltage signal and sent to the ECU to allow for controlling varying engine conditions to reduce emissions and component protection.
The get function in Python allows you to retrieve a value from a dictionary based on its key. The get() function takes one or two arguments: the key of the value you want to retrieve and an optional default value to return if the key is not found in the dictionary.
An exhaust gas temperature gauge (EGT gauge or EGT sensor) is a meter used to monitor the exhaust gas temperature of an internal combustion engine in conjunction with a thermocouple-type pyrometer. EGT gauges are found in certain cars and aeroplanes.
The exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor is placed in the exhaust stream to measure its temperature (typically measuring up to 900C) and help prevent the engine from docHubing over-temperature conditions that can damage engine components and auxiliary equipment like the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or Exhaust Gas
