C..S..V.. This stands for Comma Separated Values and is a popular format for storing data. Most of the time people use databases for large amounts of data, and spreadsheets for small amounts. But CSVs still have their place. They are simple and convenient. No drivers or special APIs are needed to use them. And Python makes them even simpler with the CSV module. Get ready to look at values that have been separated by commas - A CSV is a text file that contains data. - Oftentimes the first row of the file is a header, letting you know what the values represent. - The remaining lines contain the data. Think of each row as a record in a database. - In each row, the pieces of data are separated by commas. - Note: because this is a text file, there are no data types. - While you may mentally interpret the data as strings, dates and numbers, everything is represented as a string. - When you read a CSV, it will be your responsibility to convert the data into the appropriate data type. - A

How to Remove Line Breaks in an Excel/CSV File? Open the Find/Replace command window (press Ctrl+H). In the Find what box, place your cursor. Press and hold the Alt key and then enter 010 from your keyboards 10-keypad part. In the Replace with box, put your cursor. Then, click Replace All.
Change your settings within Excel to resolve this issue. In Excel, navigate to Data Import External Data Import Data/Import From Text and choose 65001 Unicode (UTF-8). Save your settings then re-open your file to confirm that special characters are displayed correctly.
Standard CSV conventions Use a double quote before and after any value containing a space, a comma or any special character, to escape these characters. If a double quote is present in a value, always escape it using the backslash character before the double quote.
Cell Character Limits csv files have a limit of 32,767 characters per cell. Excel has a limit of 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns per sheet. CSV files can hold many more rows. You can read more about these limits and others from this Microsoft support article here.
Math symbols, such as the = symbol, brackets, +/- and so on. Emojis. Trademark, copyright and other legal symbols. Foreign language characters and logograms, such as Chinese symbols and tilde, etc.
If you have opened a csv file and found weird characters in it, chances are you are using Excel. All of WebCollects exports are in the UTF8 character set, which covers all international characters correctly. Some versions of Excel have trouble opening csv files that use UTF8 format.
There are no restrictions on what characters you can use in a CSV file. The limitation is the way the file is encoded. Here is an article on choosing the right encoding, UTF-8 is the recommended encoding for the file because it supports almost every possible character.
This makes CSV as an abstract idea a very fragile format. Obviously commas and newlines are not allowed in the most basic variant of the format. This might be problematic in localities where the comma is used as decimal point, so often you will see semicolon used as field separator.
