in this video we explain how quickly and easily laser engraving works first you should decide which design or motif you would like to engrave and what material you plan to use the design you select will be created in a graphic program on a computer and the data will be sent to the laser via the printer dialog the design will be engraved after you place your material in the laser and press the start button the finished work piece can be removed as soon as the laser process is completed a further process step is not necessary what actually happens inside the laser the laser head passes over the design row by row similar as with an inkjet printer the laser beam removes a layer where it contacts the material a contrast results when the layer is removed because color beneath appears with multi-layer materials the design becomes visible in this manner if the laser contacts the material with more power a thicker layer is removed engravings can also become textur

A Cricut Maker can engrave wood with a thickness of about 3/32, which is about 2.4mm. Usually, balsa wood is used for engraving due to its soft nature. If you use other wood, you need to ensure that the thickness doesnt exceed the maximum limit.

Print the design in reverse with a laser printer or photocopy machine. Cut the design out with scissors. Lay the print face down, and place a solvent-dampened paper towel on the back side of the design. Press down firmly. Remove the paper, and hopefully there will be a clean transfer.
