A paystub will also include the usual identifying information for the company and the employee. For employers, this information includes the business name, address, EIN, and other details.
An employer identification number (EIN) is a nine-digit number assigned by the IRS. Its used to identify the tax accounts of employers and certain others who have no employees. The IRS uses the number to identify taxpayers who are required to file various business tax returns.
If you operate a business and employ one or more employees, you must register as an employer with us when you pay more than $100 in wages in a calendar quarter. If you are a household employer of one or more household workers, you must register with us when you pay cash wages of $750 or more in a calendar quarter.
FEIN is an acronym for Federal Employer Identification Number. This is a nine-digit unique number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to businesses operating in the United States.
You can use an EIN instead of an SSN on W-9. You are required to file a W-9 form with any company that pays your more than $600 per annum.
Find a previously filed tax return for your existing entity (if you have filed a return) for which you have your lost or misplaced EIN. Your previously filed return should be notated with your EIN. Ask the IRS to search for your EIN by calling the Business Specialty Tax Line at 800-829-4933.
