The primary role or function of working drawings is to convert design data into construction information and to clearly communicate that information to building industry, code officials, product manufacturers, suppliers and fabricators.
Drawing is a manufacturing process that uses tensile forces to elongate metal, glass, or plastic. As the material is drawn (pulled), it stretches and becomes thinner, achieving a desired shape and thickness. Drawing is classified into two types: sheet metal drawing and wire, bar, and tube drawing.
Simply put, working drawings are the scale drawings of the building work used by the builders of the project. Working drawings include all kinds of information, such as electrical and mechanical drawings, scaling, civil and structural work, and any other relevant information to the project.
Sketches will usually be created using mediums such as graphite pens, charcoal, ink, pencil, and Conte. A drawing may use these mediums as well, but may also add color or other additional mediums, such as pastels or colored pencils. The size of the artwork may also distinguish the two.
Construction drawings, also referred to as working drawings, visualize the architectural elements in a two-dimensional plane, before the actual construction begins. Some of these are also called IFC drawings or drawings issued for construction.
Working Drawings Tips Complete (all necessary information included). Accurate (at least two people should check measurements before finalizing the plans). Clear (be sure that everyone understands the information included) Consistent (make sure all drawings are drawn to scale, use the same font type and size, etc.).
Working Drawings: Reviewed and approved by architects and engineers during the design and documentation phases to ensure compliance with design intent, building codes, and regulations. Shop Drawings: Submitted to the architect or engineer for review and approval before fabrication and installation.
Any electrical working drawing consists of lines, symbols, dimensions, and notations to accurately convey an engineerings design to the workers, who the electrical system on the job.
