Many of our long time, repeat clients consider sections 60-67, sections 1-9, and sections 26-45, the best sections in Arthur Ashe Stadium. Having said that, we have many folks who prefer to sit only in sections on the west side of the court between sections 44-58 to avoid the sun.
Where are the seats in the shade at Louis Armstrong Stadium? Baseline, South Side: Shaded the entire day. Sideline, West Side: Shaded starting around the second match of the day. Upper Level, Back Rows: Seats directly under the non-retractable portion of the roof provide additional shade.
Q: What are the best sessions to get tickets for? The best days to get tickets for, apart from the later rounds, are Thurs/Fri day sessions and Tues night of the 2nd week. On Thurs Fri of the first week, you get a ton of competitive 3rd round matches before the Labor Day weekend crowds arrive.
A day session tickets provides entry at the earliest time each day and gives you access to the Stadium Court for the day session matches and access to the campus and outer courts for the entire day and night.
By noon, the sun is high over the south stands. Throughout the afternoon, it moves downward behind the west side of the stadium, setting near the northwest corner. This orientation makes the west and south sides of the stadium the shade sides and the north and east sides of the stadium the sunny sides.
Tennis is probably the only sport where the better viewing option is endzones rather than sidelines (to prevent too much head swiveling). I like corners because with the angle you can see lines (at least on your side) and pace better than directly behind the baseline.
A ticket to any center court is numbered and you book a seat on that court for a specific day and time of play (in case of day and night sessions). That same ticket also allows you to access all outside courts except the other center court.
U.S. Open evening matches are one of the more exciting and enchanting sports experiences out there. If you do plan to splurge on a ticketed seat, we recommend doing so for an Ashe evening session around the 3rd or 4th day of play when matches become more competitive.
