How to insert the current date in Word Place your cursor in the location where you want to insert the date. Select the Insert tab from the top banner. Navigate to the Text group. Click Date Time. Choose the desired format of the date from the menu that appears. Press OK to finalize these changes.

The Page Setup dialog box shows a preview of your header or footer. On the Insert menu, click Header and Footer. In the Insert Formula dialog box, click Insert Function. In the Categories list in the Insert Function dialog box, click Date and Time. In the Functions list, click now, and then click OK twice to return to the Date Picker Properties dialog box.
To insert only the date, press Alt+Shift+D. To insert only the time, press Alt+Shift+T.
