When these records dont exist, the IRS allows a donor receipt to serve as a record for the contribution date. This is why donor receipts should include the date of the contribution. If the donor receipt doesnt include the date, the contribution may be disallowed entirely.
Corporate Matching Gift Program Guidelines The majority of companies match at a 1:1 ratio, but others have drastically different standards. For example, some companies will give $0.50 for every dollar an employee donates, while others will give as much as $4 for every $1 that an employee donates (a 4:1 ratio).

Generally, you can claim part or all of the eligible amount of your gifts, up to the limit of 75% of your net income for the year. If you require information about a gift made in a previous year, you will need the version of Guide P113, Gifts and Income Tax, for the year in which you made your gift.
When it comes to gifting money, it doesnt need to be reported to the Canada Revenue Agency and no gift tax return is required, unlike in the US. The only time you would report gifted money is if youre donating to a charity.
The nice thing about tax refunds in Canada is that there is no maximum amount you can receive. Tax refunds are individual and are based on how much youve paid in total in taxes and how much you actually owe.
You should keep your official donation receipts for six years after the end of the tax year you made a claim for, in case the Canada Revenue Agency asks to see them. If you did your taxes late, keep your receipts for six years from the date you submitted your return.
Taxpayers can deduct charitable contributions by itemizing their deductions using Schedule A (Form 1040). For non-cash contributions greater than $500, the IRS requires Form 8283 to be submitted. Online tax software can help you fill out the necessary forms.
