MOBI is an older file format and wont support the newest Kindle features for documents. Any MOBI documents already in your library that you want to read with our most up-to-date features for documents will need to be re-sent in a compatible format, such as EPUB (. epub).
Should You Use MOBI or EPUB Files? Because of its much smaller file sizes and wider compatibility, EPUB is the better format. The only reason to use MOBI used to be for compatibility with Amazons e-reader and app, but this is no longer an issue since Kindles now support EPUB.
It will begin to gradually phase out MOBI format support on November 1, 2023, and will completely stop support for MOBI format on December 20, 2023. Unlike the previous announcement, Amazon has provided a detailed execution plan for the cessation of MOBI format support in the Send to Kindle service this time.
MOBI is an abbreviation of Mobipocket, which is a software package designed for publishing and reading eBooks. It is therefore not an acronym or initialisation, unlike many other file type extensions.
You can still read them with Kindle. MOBI is an older file format and wont support the newest Kindle features for document.
MOBI is an older file format and does not support the latest Kindle features for documents. If you wish to enjoy our most up-to-date document features, please re-send files in a compatible format. EPUB (. epub) is one such compatible format, and you can send it to your library through Send to Kindle for Email.
MOBI (short for Mobipocket) is a proprietary format primarily used on Amazons Kindle devices and applications, but can also be read on other e-readers and mobile devices. MOBI files are designed to be fixed-layout, and can display both reflowable content and fixed width layout.
We support fixed format books in MOBI that meet the specifications outlined in the Kindle Publishing Guidelines. For reflowable eBooks, upload a EPUB, DOCX, or KPF file instead. Note: (.prc) files created with the legacy program MobiPocket Creator are no longer supported.
