Capitalize the first word in a caption and use lowercase thereafter, except for proper nouns and capitalized abbreviations. You dont need a period at the end of a caption unless there is additional text below the caption such as a figure note or the caption includes multiple complete sentences.
Capitalize the first and last words in titles and subtitles, and capitalize all other major words (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and conjunctions with four or more letters).
-When the quoted material is a complete sentence, capitalize the first letter of the direct quote. -Do not use a capital letter when the quoted material is a fragment or a piece of the original sentence. - When a quote is interrupted mid-sentence, do not capitalize the second part of the quotation.
Closed Captioning Style Guide. 1-2 lines per caption, no more than 32 characters per line across. Line breaks and caption breaks should follow the natural rhythm of speech for maximum readability, without breaking up complete clauses/names, separating articles from words, etc.
Most likely subtitles and closed captions are written in all caps is for ease of legibility. Upper-case letters are larger and not as easily confused with other letters compare C, E, and O with c, e, o. When youre trying to read captions that change every 10 seconds or so, every little bit helps.
Captions should be capitalized using sentence case. Captions appear outside, and usually below, the illustration. Titles for paintings, drawings, photographs, statues, and books will be italicized and in title case.
A closed captioner writes the subtitles and captions for recorded audio files and videos and live events. Working as a closed captioner can offer many benefits, such as opportunities to work from home and the chance to provide an important service for people who are deaf and hard of hearing.
Captioning is the process of converting the audio content of a television broadcast, webcast, film, video, CD-ROM, DVD, live event, or other productions into text and displaying the text on a screen, monitor, or other visual display system.
