hello and welcome everybody to this experience for beginners course remember how well xps iamp;#39;m mark isaacs and iamp;#39;m going to be introducing you to uh the fundamentals and getting you started on learning some of the theory and background behind how xps works as a technique and as a process and just give you a little bit of a a baseline to work on for when we come to look at how to interpret our data how to process some of our spectra and and get the most out of our xps results so this is going to be the first part of our fundamental section do check out some of the examples and questions afterwards as well hopefully thatamp;#39;ll give you a bit of a chance to um get some hands-on use with some of the things weamp;#39;re going to talk about and just help you kind of build up your your kind of knowledge and appreciation for xps as a technique so weamp;#39;ll get started and this first talk is going to be on just some of the absolute fundamentals of express so weamp;#39;
