hey there itamp;#39;s erin with time saving templates and today iamp;#39;m going to be going over a quick excel tip that is going to help you out when youamp;#39;re troubleshooting external links within your excel file so for this example iamp;#39;m going to go ahead and open up an old version that we have of a template and i want you to see this message that we get so if you ever get this message that your workbook contains links to external sources i know that it would be safe because itamp;#39;s something that iamp;#39;ve had on my computer and this could also happen if somebody emails you the template and thereamp;#39;s a link on their computer still so as long as you know who itamp;#39;s from it should be fine so we have a couple options update the links or donamp;#39;t update iamp;#39;m going to click update and then youamp;#39;ll see that i get this message some of the links in the workbook canamp;#39;t be updated you can continue updating the values or edit

In the Edit Links dialog box, in the Source list, click the link that you want to break. You can select individual workbooks with Ctrl+click, or all of them with Ctrl+A. Click Break Link. If the link used a defined name, you may also want to delete the name.
Remove all hyperlinks at the same time Select all cells that contain hyperlinks, or press Ctrl+A to select all cells. Right-click, and then click Remove Hyperlinks.
In Excel: Select all cells that contain hyperlinks, or press Ctrl+A to select all cells. Right-click, and then click Remove Hyperlinks.
The Edit Links window will open, listing all the sources to which all the worksheets in the active workbook have external links. Alternatively, use Alt + A + K or Alt + E + K as the break links in Excel shortcut to open the Edit Links window and access the Break Link option.
To start a new line of text or add spacing between lines or paragraphs of text in a worksheet cell, press Alt+Enter to insert a line break. Double-click the cell in which you want to insert a line break (or select the cell and then press F2).
Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Uncheck the box next to Internet and network paths with hyperlinks. Click OK twice.
Break a link On the Data tab, in the Connections group, click Edit Links. Note: The Edit Links command is unavailable if your file does not contain linked information. In the Source list, click the link that you want to break. Click Break Link.
