Why is change instance type greyed out?

Greyed out instance type means lack of AWS service quota. Therefore, it is necessary to create quota space by stopping other instances in use, or to apply for an increase in the quota limit on the AWS side.

How can you change the instance type used in Auto Scaling group?

AWS does not allow to edit launch configuration. If you notice, we define instance type at time of launch configuration. So if you want to change instance type in Auto Scaling group than you need to create new launch configuration for that.

Why am I not able to change instance type?

Before you can change the instance type, you need to stop the running instance. Log into the AWS Management Console, navigate to the EC2 dashboard, and select the instance you want to modify. Choose the Actions menu, then Instance State, and click Stop.

How to change instance type of EC2 instance?
