DITA maps are documents that organize topics and other resources into structured collections of information. DITA maps specify hierarchy and the relationships among the topics; they also provide the contexts in which keys are defined and resolved.
A bookmap defines elements such as and . A DITA map does not impose structural rules with regards to the sequence of the topic references. However, to maintain a book structure, the bookmap defines rules such as disallowing a chapter element after the appendix element.
Oxygen XML Editor provides a validation function for DITA maps that does more than simply validating that the XML is well-formed. It also does the following: Validates all of the relationships defined in the maps. Validates all of the files that are included in the map.
Create an XML Map Click Developer Source. In the XML Source task pane, click XML Maps, and then click Add. In the Look in list, click the drive, folder, or Internet location that contains the file you want to open. Click the file, and then click Open. Click OK.
Using DITA XML, you can create structured content once and then reuse it in multiple formats and contexts. This allows you to break down your content into smaller modules that can be reused in different ways. Modular content is easier to understand, update, and translate than unstructured content.
Create a map On your computer, sign in to My Maps. Click Create a new map. Go to the top left and click Untitled map. Give your map a name and description.
Create a ditamap Choose File New DITA . Alternatively, choose File New XML. By default, a ditamap is opened in the Resource Manager. You can use the available FrameMaker tools, such as the Structure View and Elements panel, to work with a ditamap. You can also include relationship tables to a ditamap.
