Introduction. Office 365 retention policies can be used to automatically delete e-mail older than a specified time. Default retention policies (which cant be modified by users) are applied against the Deleted Items and Junk Mail folders to automatically remove items older than 30 days from each folder.
To change the policy name in Office 365 navigate to Office 365 Admin Exchange admin center compliance management retention policies. Next, select Default MRM Policy, click the edit icon and then change the name of the policy.
Default MRM policy. The Default MRM policy is automatically applied when a new mailbox is created in Exchange Online. You can change the retention policy applied to a user at any point in time. Tags included in the Default MRM Policy can be modified ing to your business needs.
It can be recovered within 30 days after being deleted. After 30 days, the user account and mailbox are permanently deleted and not recoverable. To delete a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 work or school account, see Delete or restore users.
Double click on the user mailbox and select Manage mailbox policies. Under Retention policy, select [No policy] instead of Default MRM Policy.
