Vinegar Lay vinegar-soaked paper towels directly over the stain. Allow the towels to sit for 30-45 minutes. Wipe the affected area with a clean, moist cloth. Allow the area to dry for 30 minutes-1 hour. For stubborn stains, add baking soda to the affected area and gently scrub with an old toothbrush.
Put some non-gel toothpaste on the spot and rub with a soft cloth till the stain is lifted. For stubborn stains, mix equal parts baking soda and toothpaste. Wipe the toothpaste off with a clean damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Place enough baking soda onto the paper so that it completely covers the stain and leave overnight. The baking soda should be in a relatively tall pile. If you can still see the paper through the baking soda, add more! Other non-staining absorbent powders will also work for this step.
Mild Cleaning Solution: Mix a mild cleaning solution by combining warm water with a small amount of gentle dish soap or wood cleaner. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the solution, wring out excess liquid, and gently wipe down the surface of the furniture. Avoid using excessive water, as it can damage the wood.
How to Remove Oil-Based Stain from Wood Prepare the workspace. Protect yourself. Prepare the wood surface. Apply the wood stain remover. Allow the stain stripper to sit on the surface for approximately 15 minutes, but reapply as necessary to ensure the surface doesnt dry-out during this time. Remove the stain.
You can remove wood stain using a chemical stripper, which will do most of the heavy lifting, and then sand the wood as a finishing step to smooth out the surface before preparing it to be stained, sealed, or painted.
A quick wipe down with a damp microfiber towel and a drop of dish soap, or even a scrub down with Clean-A-Finish for the worst pieces, will ensure that you are enhancing the brightest, cleanest version of your wood finish possible. Just clean, dry, then buff in a little polish to shine.
Combine Vinegar and Olive Oil for a DIY Wood-Stain Remover In a small bowl, mix equal parts vinegar and olive oil. Apply the mixture to the water stain using a cloth. Wipe in the direction of the wood grain until the stain is gone. The vinegar will help remove the stain while the olive oil acts as a furniture polish.
