Approximately 10 hours, depending on humidity, temperature, and air movement. Dry times may also be extended due to excess stain application or lack of stain penetration. Wiping Stain can be topcoated after 12 hours, but stain must be thoroughly dry.
Apply a full wet coat of stain using spray equipment, brush, cloth, sponge, or dipping, then wipe clean using a lint free cloth. Allow the stain to penetrate up to 10 minutes to achieve the desired color. The longer the stain is allowed to penetrate, the stronger the staining action will be.
If you didnt, the stain may still be tacky. You should not apply your clear topcoat until the stain is no longer tacky and has been allowed to dry at least as long as the label recommends. To get rid of the excess stain now, take a cloth dampened with mineral spirits and use that to scrub down the piece.
