How to check if a spot instance was terminated?

Open the Amazon EC2 console, and then select Spot Requests. Choose the Request ID of the terminated Spot Instance. View the Status field under the Description section to see reason code explaining why the instance was terminated.

How do you change the delete on termination in AMI?

It is not possible to modify the Delete on termination value on an existing AMI. So you have 2 choices: Launch an EC2 instance from your AMI and produce a new AMI with the appropriate Delete on Terminate value, or. Modify the value when you launch the new EC2 instance.

What is delete on termination?

On Amazon EC2, when you use an EBS volume as the root device for an EC2 instance, the Delete on Termination flag defaults to true, meaning the volume will automatically be deleted when you destroy the instance.

What happens if AMI is deleted?

When you delete or deregister an Amazon EBS-backed AMI, any snapshots created for the volume of the instance during the AMI creation process are retained. If you accidentally delete the AMI, then you can launch an identical AMI using one of the retained snapshots.

What happens when a spot instance is interrupted?

Your instance will be shut down after saving its state. Once a spot instance is stopped, only an AWS EC2 can restart it. It will restart the stopped spot instance when there is enough capacity in the Availability Zone.

Does terminate mean delete?

Delete: Deletes the record but not the files. Terminate: Deletes the files but not the record.

What is delete on termination on AMI?

Let us run through the process of creating an image (AMI -- Amazon Machine Image) via the AWS Console: The Delete on Termination flag controls the deletion of the EBS volume during termination of Spot Instances: If the flag is marked, the EBS volume is deleted and if it is unmarked, the EBS volume is not deleted.

Can you stop a spot instance?

You can only stop a Spot Instance if the Spot Instance was launched from a persistent Spot Instance request. You cant stop a Spot Instance if the associated Spot Instance request is cancelled. When the Spot Instance request is cancelled, you can only terminate the Spot Instance.
