Implantation bleeding looks like small drops of blood or a brownish discharge from your vagina. It can start around the time of your regular period and can last for a few days to a few weeks. Spotting can cause some people to think they have just had a light period and arent pregnant.
It is very common and tends to happen in early pregnancy, during the first trimester. Spotting is usually red or pink in colour. It can also look brown, like old blood or like the bleeding at the start and end of your period. The amount of blood you lose when spotting is small less than a light period bleed.
Light bleeding, or spotting, during pregnancy is common, especially during the first trimester. It is considered spotting when you notice a few drops of blood occasionally in your underwear, or if you wipe yourself with tissue and see a little blood on the paper. There should not be enough blood to fill a panty liner.
Spotting is when you see a light or trace amount of pink, red, or dark brown blood. It will be lighter than your menstrual period and there wont be enough blood to cover a panty line. Spotting during pregnancy isnt always a sign that something is wrong.
However, bleeding is common during the first three months (12 weeks) of pregnancy and may or may not be a sign of a problem. It can range from slight brown spotting, to bright red bleeding, may last from a day to weeks and may be accompanied by mild cramping or low backache.
Implantation bleeding is defined as a small amount of light spotting or bleeding. It typically occurs about 10 to 14 days after conception. The following signs may help clue you in to whats happening: Color. Implantation bleeding is more likely to be a pinky-brown color. Consistency. Implantation bleeding is more like on-and-off spotting. Clotting. If you notice clots in the bleeding, you can be pretty sure that this is your period. Cramping. Duration.
You may only notice a little blood on the toilet paper you use to wipe, or you may see stains accumulate on your underwear throughout the day. This is all considered normal. Other signs that youre beginning or ending your period include: sore or swollen breasts.
