The retraction distance is usually set in the range of 0.515 mm, depending on the extruder and material type. A greater retraction distance can help to prevent stringing, but this can cause stress on the filament and potentially cause clogs, as well as resulting in longer print times.
Extra length on restart - Adds an extra length of filament after the retraction is compensated after the travel move. This setting is rarely used, however should the print show signs of not having enough material after travel moves then it may be useful to add a small amount of additional material.
A high retraction speed allows you to use shorter retraction lengths and guarantees good results without lengthening the printing time too much. We suggest setting a retraction speed between 30 and 60 mm/s, again the perfect value depends on the printer/nozzle/filament configuration.
Why Use It. Coasting in Cura mainly aims to solve stringing issues in a 3D print. This phenomenon typically occurs because the material isnt retracted completely back into the nozzle. Thus, the material that oozes out of the nozzle forms zits or blobs on the 3D print.
Unfortunately, printers typically do not store a history of the documents that have been printed. Once a print job is completed, the printer doesnt retain a record of the document. However, there are a few potential ways you could try to retrieve the document.
Retract on layer change: Activates retraction when the layer changes to the next one. It is recommended to leave this option on. Wipe while retracting: Moves the nozzle (wipe) while the retraction is happening. It is recommended to leave this option on.
