Sloppy guitar playing is often caused by unwanted open string noise. Vibrating open strings make it hard to hear the notes you are actually playing. Heavy distortion (and playing at a loud volume) makes this problem worse. How To Fix Sloppy Guitar Technique And Play Guitar Clean - Tom Hess Tom Hess HowToFixSloppyGuitarPlaying Tom Hess HowToFixSloppyGuitarPlaying
A crunch tone will have more sustain than a clean tone but less than an all out lead or distortion sound. Although you can get a crunch tone with pedals, it came about by running an amp hard and pushing it past its happy clean sound. The first way to achieve a crunch tone is by pushing the amp with pedals.
Assuming your amp has it, set the master volume to the level you need, with the gain set low. If you dont have a master volume, try lowering the bass/mid/treble controls. If you still cant get a clean sound and its a tube amp, it maybe time for new tubes.
You want to set up your tone (either using your amp or a pedal) on the edge of breakup. So when you pick lightly it is sparkly clean but digs in and sends the amp into a light overdrive. This is the sound most people are after when they are after a clean sound. Just add a little bit of gain into your sound!
Lets have a quick recap of those 5 steps for clearer sounding guitar chords. Cut the fretting hand nails short. Use a capo to incrementally help with any stretches. Keep your thumb low on the neck. Dig your nails into the fretboard to improve your finger angle. Use a pick and pluck each string individually. 5 Simple Tips On How To Make Your Basic Guitar Chords Sound Clearer Guitar Domination basic-guitar-chords Guitar Domination basic-guitar-chords

Just by rolling back your guitars volume knob, you can experiment with many different tones as you roll back, even all of the way to clean sounds if you have the right amp.
