To strikethrough words, use two tilde symbols ( ~~ ) before and after the words.
The way to escape a special character is to add a backslash before it, e.g., I do not want \italic text\ here . Similarly, if # does not indicate a section heading, you may write \# This is not a heading .
Select the text that you want to return to its default formatting. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Clear All Formatting. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Clear All Formatting.
Bold, Italic and Strikethrough To create italic text, surround the text with single asterisks ( * ) or single underscores ( ). To create strikethrough text, surround the text with double tildes ( ~~ ). To create text which is both bold and italic, surround the text with triple asterisks ( *** ).
You can toggle to read/rendered view (Ctrl+E or the book/pencil at the top) and then select and copy the formatted text. From there if you need plaintext you can paste using Ctrl+Shift+V in most cases to strip the formatting and get just the plaintext without any markdown syntax included.
There are two ways to hide content: To hide Markdown, use the {toggle} directive. To hide or remove code cells or their outputs, use notebook cell tags.
Clear All Formatting Select the text with the formatting you want to clear. Select Home Clear All Formatting. or press Ctrl + Spacebar.
Pasting Markdown text from another source If you dont want the content to be automatically formatted, use Cmd+Shift+V (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+V (Windows) to paste. If you paste text with Markdown commands from a rich text editor, the Markdown commands remain as is. The content is not automatically formatted.
