The earliest codes were for 1935, including bottles marked: 7 up / ALKALINE REACTION / THE GAS PURIFIES, made by the Huntington, West Virginia, factory of the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. (Figure 10b-9) These bottles were apparently only made during that year.
The ACL Process Although inventors played with the idea of adapting the process to glass containers during the late 1920s, it was not until 1934 that the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. created a viable method for applying silk screens to bottles, calling their labels Applied Color Lettering (ACL).

As for most of my bottle collection, this article focuses on the cleaning of Applied Color Label (commonly known as ACL) bottles. The main difference with ACL bottles is of course the applied layer of paint baked into the glass that provides the unique label for each brand.
o You may shower 48 hours after your surgery and get your incisions wet. Let the water run down over the incisions but do not rub or scrub them. o Do not soak or submerge the surgical site for at least 3 weeks following surgery. o Rest and elevate your leg for the first 24 hours.
The number is a resin identification code developed by the Society of the Plastics Industry to identify what materials/chemicals are in each plastic item, how biodegradable it is, the level of leaching, and for sorting purposes.
Applied Ceramic Label. It is a process by which ceramic paint is applied directly to the surface of a bottle and fired through a Lehr furnace. After firing at temperatures up to 1180 F the label design is permanently fused to the glass.
