this is the second video in a series on the under painting process with a wipeout as I said in the last video we are going to be using two substances that weamp;#39;re going to mix with our paint oil of some sort of linseed oil and weamp;#39;re going to put together with liquid which is a drying agent so and also it kind of thins things out itamp;#39;s a petroleum-based product when we put those two things together we will have a long enough period to work with it then we can manipulate the paint like we want to but it will also dry faster because of the liquids so that we can move on to the next stages one of the biggest problems we have whenever weamp;#39;re working in layers is having to let each layer and harden underneath I donamp;#39;t like to use where dry I probably will interchangeably but I want you to understand that itamp;#39;s not drying by evaporation like water does it is hardening and the hardening is accelerated by heat but blowing a fan on it is not really going

Subtractive drawing is a technique in which the drawing surface is covered with graphite or charcoal marks and then erased to make the image. This technique is often used to add texture, establish tonal shapes, or create the appearance of reflected light in a drawing.
Subtractive painting involves adding layers of paint to a ground, then selectively wiping them away to create an image. Using Golden OPEN acrylics on top of molding paste, and in conjunction with glazes, its possible to create highly colorful compositions with layers of depth.
The technique is simple: Once the canvas has been covered with a solid layer of dark or medium-dark paint, a lintless cloth or brush can be used to bring back the white of the canvas. The cloth or brush can be dry, or it can be dipped in a bit of odorless mineral spirits (for oil paint) or water (for acrylic paint).
The subtractive colors are cyan, yellow, magenta and black, also known as CMYK. Subtractive color begins with white (paper) and ends with black; as color is added, the result is darker.
10 essential painting techniques for artists 1# Underpainting. The term underpainting refers to the first layer of paint that is applied to a canvas or board. 2# Dry brushing. 3# Sgraffito. 4# Glazing. 5# Gestural. 6# Stippling. 7# Pouring. 8# Splattering.
Most underpaintings are monochromatic and begin with a coloured ground, which is colour applied as an even layer across the surface. The artist may leave out or remove highlighted areas to allow the white beneath to show through, giving the final work a greater sense of light and contrast.
The definition of subtractive sculpture is the removal of pieces of material through carving, cutting, sanding, and other techniques to acquire the desired form. These two methods of sculptural art can result in freestanding or relief pieces, which are the two main forms of sculpture.
A moist cotton swab rolled gently across the surface of the pigment loosens dirt. The surface of the painting was first cleaned with a soft brush to remove loose dirt and dust. Lightly moistened cotton swabs were then gently rolled over the painting to loosen and remove soil.
