On a worksheet, select the cell or range of cells that you want to remove a border from. To cancel a selection of cells, click any cell on the worksheet. Click Home the Borders arrow Erase Border, and then select the cells with the border you want to erase.
In the Row Labels area: Right-click on one of the headings in the outermost field, click Expand/Collapse, then click click Expand Entire Field or Collapse Entire Field. Right-click on one of the headings in the outermost field, click Expand/Collapse, then click click Expand To or Collapse To, for the lowest level field.
Select the rows that you wish to collapse, then click on the Data tab and Groups in the Outline group, and then click on Group Rows. You will see a - sign on the left of column A. Go to Data Outline Ungroup, and then select Clear Outline. Important: If you remove an outline while the detail data is hidden, the detail rows or columns can remain hidden.
Navigate to the correct sub-menu: Click the Home tab at the top of the spreadsheet and click Format. Choose the hide row option: Within the Visibility drop-down menu, hover over Hide Unhide and click Hide Rows. Excel automatically hides your chosen rows by collapsing them.
On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Background group, select Page Borders. In the Borders and Shading dialog box, on the Page Border tab, under Setting, choose None. Select OK.
Here are the steps: Select the worksheet data. Go to the Data menu in the ribbon and look in the Outline group. Click on the Subtotal command. Select how you want it subtotaled (in our example, this would be by location and for each of the ice cream treat categories). Click OK.
To collapse an outline in Excel, follow these steps: Select the cell at the top of the group you want to collapse. Go to Data tab on the ribbon. Click on Group. Select Collapse from the dropdown. The outline will collapse.
