Select the cell or range of cells from which you want to clear formatting. On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click the arrow next to the Clear button. Select the Clear Formats option.
Return to the cell with the broken formula, which will be in edit mode, and Excel will highlight the spot where its having a problem. If you still dont know what to do from there and want to start over, you can press ESC again, or select the Cancel button in the formula bar, which will take you out of edit mode.
