Once a file is saved with redactions applied, theres no way to get the information back. If you overwrite the original PDF with the redacted version, the redacted information is gone forever.
How to redact a PDF in 7 steps. Select Tools Redact. Use the crosshair to draw rectangles over the text or images you want to permanently remove from the PDF. Optional: If you dont want a black box, select your preferred redaction marks. Click Apply.
If the redaction isnt burned into the image so that it cannot be removed, the redacted data can still be viewed. Especially when your images are docHub PDF files, the most common mistake is to redact by obscuring the text by drawing a black box over the text or images you want redacted.
Open your PDF document. Switch to Edit Mode. Wait for the Edit toolbar to appear. Select the text editor icon. Click on the document where you want to insert or delete existing text and wait for cursor appear. Type desired text, or delete existing text by pressing the backspace button on your keyboard.

Open the Text Search Tool by using the shortcut keys CTRL + F (Command + F on a Mac) Type in the word you redacted and click on New Search. This will bring up a list of all the text matching what you typed in the search box.
Normally, redactions should be impossible to unredact. But, there have been a number of well known occasions where redactions were done improperly, and it was later found that it was possible to expose the underlying information.
Remove personal information for a PDF Right click the PDF, select Open with and then Google Chrome. Select the printing symbol in the upper right corner of the tab that opened in Google Chrome. Set Destination to Save as PDF and click Save. The PDF that you now saved will not contain any personal information.
