No, they are essentially the same file type; the only difference is that one acronym (TIF) is short for the other acronym (TIFF). So regardless of which acronym you use, both refer to the same image format. The two acronyms are used interchangeably, so theres no need to worry about which one youre using.
A TIFF, which stands for Tag Image File Format, is a computer file used to store raster graphics and image information. A favorite among photographers, TIFFs are a handy way to store high-quality images before editing if you want to avoid lossy file formats.
The same thing has happened to me with GIMP and Windows. Open command prompt with admin privileges. Go to the folder where the tiff file is. Open Task Administrator and kill explorer.exe task (all of them in case you find more than one) On command prompt type del /f fileName.tiff
By default all recognized fields in the TIFF image file directory (IFD) are loaded into the native image metadata object. Which fields are loaded may be controlled by setting which TIFF tags the reader is allowed to recognize, whether to read fields with unrecognized tags, and whether to ignore all metadata.
Manual Way to Remove Metadata from TIFF Files On Windows computer, right-click the TIFF file and choose Properties. Click Remove Properties and Personal Information at the bottom. A dialog will appear asking if you want to delete all properties or just a portion of them.
Make your TIFF images into JPGs. Choose File and select Save As. Or, choose File, then Export, and Save for Web (Legacy). You can use either process to save CMYK, RGB, or grayscale images. In the JPG Options dialog box, make any additional selections. Click OK.
Like JPEGs, TIFFs are a raster graphic file, but this format uses lossless compression to retain image data. This means that TIFF files are generally large. They tend to take up a lot of drive space and can be impossible to send via email.
How to remove metadata from TIFF Open this GroupDocs. Click inside the file drop area to upload a TIFF file or drag drop a TIFF file. Choose the metadata property to delete from your TIFF, select it and click remove icon. Click on Save then on Download button to download the updated TIFF file.
