Clear All Formatting or press Ctrl + Spacebar.
Press Alt+F9 to turn off field codes currently on the page. To turn off a field code for a specific field, click on the field and press Shift+F9 instead. Click the Office button and select Word Options to turn off field codes by default.
They are to let you see fields. You can use Alt+F9 to display everything. Then select everything between the field braces and copy. Then Ctrl+A to delete everything. Then paste. Finally, Alt+F9 to toggle back to display of field results.
Steps Open the Word document you want to edit. Click on the Home tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen. Look for the Clear All Formatting button (in the Font section) and click on it. The formatting will be removed from the selected text, and it will be returned to its default style.
Open a paper in Microsoft Word. Click Words File menu in the upper left corner. Choose Options. Choose Advanced. Scroll down to Show document content. Click the checkbox next to Show field codes instead of their values to uncheck it.
Clear formatting from text Select the text that you want to return to its default formatting. In Word: On the Edit menu, click Clear and then select Clear Formatting. In PowerPoint: On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Clear All Formatting .
Press Ctrl+Shift+F9. This converts the field to actual text.
Removal of field codes Before re-submitting your revised manuscript after acceptance, open your document in Microsoft Word, select Tools - Endnote (or Reference Manager) - Remove Field Codes - save the manuscript under a new name.
