this example will demonstrate how to delete a boy and a description start by using the grid box to reference the nm position on the chart then using the latitude and longitude guides on the tracing and the chart lay the tracing to its exact location determine the position of the boy and description to be deleted then remove the tracing to reveal the chart using a magenta 0.25 pen and a ruler delete the description using a double strikethrough over the description text using diagonal double strike throughs also delete the boy color and flare now lay the tracing back over the chart to check that the correct boy and description have been deleted once all the updates have been applied add the nm update number to the charts notices to Mariners section in the bottom left corner of the chart
