Open phone settings. Click on Notifications. Click on Advanced settings. Use the option App icon badges to turn the badge on or off.
The message may just also appear highlighted since its unread. Tap and hold the problematic message. After a moment, youll see some different icons appear at the top of the screen. Tap the Delete icon.

On an Android device, go into the Notifications section of Settings and toggle off the option that says Notification Dot on App Icons.
Touch and hold the message you want to delete. Optional: To delete multiple messages, touch and hold the first message, then tap more messages. Tap Delete to confirm.
To dismiss one notification, swipe it left or right. To clear all notifications, scroll to the bottom of your notifications and tap Clear all.
