If youre not the owner, others can see the file even if you empty your trash. On your computer, open Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. Next to the file you want to delete, click More. Remove. The file will be moved to the trash section of Drive.
If someone shared a file or folder with you that you dont want to see anymore, you can remove it. Go to drive.google.com. On the left, click Shared with me. Right click the file you want to remove. Click Remove.
You have read-only permission to this file, and it cannot be removed from your Google Drive account. This happens when someone shares a file with you but gives you read-only access or you have opened a publicly shared file.
