Choose Apple menu Restart, then immediately press and hold Command-R. In the Recovery app window, select Disk Utility, then click Continue. In Disk Utility, select the volume you want to erase in the sidebar, then click Erase in the toolbar.
Choose Apple menu System Settings, then click General in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Click Transfer or Reset on the right, then click Erase All Contents and Settings.
To hard restart your Mac using the keys group, follow these steps: Press and hold the Command + Control + Power buttons on your keyboard. Continue holding the buttons until the Mac shuts down. Release the buttons and wait for a few seconds. Press the Power button to start up your Mac.
