Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction failure can be defined as abnormal knee function due to graft insufficiency with abnormal laxity or failure to recreate a functional knee ing to the expected outcome. Traumatic ruptures have been reported as the most common reason for failure.
Following ACL reconstruction, and after appropriate time and healing has passed, patients who still complain of instability, knee pain, limited range of motion, and knee stiffness are often the ones who experience a failed reconstruction.
