there are several ways to unzip a file but this method is by far the most efficient way to do it if you want to unzip and move it to another directory in one mouse move let me show you how itamp;#39;s done so open your windows explorer and go to a spot where you have your zip file so what you do here is you right click and you hold it and move it to say desktop and let it go and then you say extract to your desktop or whatever the destination folder is and what it does is that it creates a new folder and thatamp;#39;s how you unzip it in a quick and efficient way

How to Extract Files to a Specific Directory. Instead of using the cd command, use the -d option to unzip to a folder in another location. For example: unzip archivefile.zip -d /target/folder/destination.
Options in Unzip Command in Linux OptionUsage -d Used to define destination directory to unzip to -l To list the contents of the zip file we are unzipping -o Used to override the already existing files on the system -x Used to exclude files while unzipping2 more rows Apr 12, 2024
The -d flag tests whether the provided name exists and is a directory. To test for regular files instead, we can use the -f flag. To test for both files and directories, we can use the -e flag. More information about test can be found on its manual page, accessible by typing man test into the terminal.
If you want to unzip a zip file to a different directory instead of extracting files in the same directory, use the unzip command with the -d option. Verify it after executing the above command, and you will notice that the zip file is extracted in your Documents directory on your Ubuntu system.
Unzip Files to a Different Directory To extract files to a different directory, use the -d flag. The -d flag stands for Directory and takes a relative or absolute path as the argument. unzip filename.zip -d /directory/location.
By default, the zip command doesnt archive a directory recursively. By using the flag -r, zip will traverse subdirectories recursively and archive their files. Running the command with option -r ensures the files within the directory are included as well.
