If your business uses accrual (traditional) accounting for VAT, you account for VAT in the period youve invoiced your customer, regardless of when they pay you. Therefore, the tax point is the same date as the invoice issue date.
Known as the supply date, this is when the goods or services were issued. The supply date may be different to the invoice date but is usually within 30 days.
