As a photography mentor, I see photographers watermarking their photos all the time. Generally, watermarking your wedding photography or other pro images is seen as a technique to prevent image theft.
Do you really have to edit all your photos? Whether to edit or not is largely a personal choice. While few in numbers, some photographers have developed a personal style based on no-edit images. The overall rule with photo editing is to keep it minimal and only make changes where actually necessary.
Almost every professional photo you see online has been digitally altered in some way. Sometimes the photos are completely changed to create a unique world. But mostly the photos are tweaked to fix errors or make them more visually appealing.
On average, most couples can expect to receive around 800-1500 photos from their wedding day. However, if you have a larger wedding or more hours coverage, you may receive more photos. And if you have a smaller wedding or less coverage, you may receive fewer photos.
I need to point out here that editing style varies widely among wedding photographers. Heck, some photographers specialize in retouching, whether they do it themselves or outsource it to a third party company. Some photographers dont edit their images at all.
Some wedding photographers may allow you to purchase the RAWs if you feel you could benefit from having them, but youre going to pay a hefty price beyond your initial investment.
Navigating Pitfalls: What to Avoid in Your Wedding Photos Overlooking the Photographers Style. Skimping on Photography Time. Neglecting Lighting Considerations. Forgetting to Communicate Must-Have Shots. Underestimating the Importance of a Pre-Wedding Consultation. Choosing Quantity Over Quality.
The bottom line for couples hiring a wedding photographer is to understand that they do not own the copyright to their photos. Couples should make sure that they read and understand the copyright terms in their contract before signing.
