Removing a remark from an existing ACE Use the Named ACL context to enter the ACL. Using show run or show access-list list-name config , note the sequence number and content of the ACE having a remark you want to remove. Delete the ACE. Using the same sequence number, re-enter the ACE.
Inserting a remark for an ACE that already exists in an ACL Delete the ACE. Configure the remark with the number you want assigned to the pair. Re-Enter the deleted ACE with the number used to enter the remark.
ACL comment text describes entries in an ACL and appears in the output of show commands that display ACL information. To add a comment, enter the remark command followed by up to 255 alphanumeric characters on the line immediately preceding an ACL entry as shown in the following example.
The command syntax format of a standard ACL is access-list access-list-number {permit|deny} {host|source source-wildcard|any}. Standard ACLs compare the source address of the IP packets to the addresses configured in the ACL in order to control traffic.
COMMENT inserts explanatory text within the command sequence. Comments are included among the commands printed back in the output; they do not become part of the information saved in a data file. To include commentary in the dictionary of a data file, use the DOCUMENT command. Syntax Rules.
