hi there again in this chapter you learned a lot of risk factors however i do think its a good idea to provide some additional information within this screencast in order to interpret literature provided in the previous units appropriately what are the problems well at first sight you might think well there are no problems because based on the literature we have been able to identify some risk factors however maybe the glass is emptier than we think when we would make the assumption that we can predict acl injuries as well let me try to explain in the next slide imagine you would have a screening test for example to drop a vertical jump test as we discussed the screening test outcome was for example the knee vagus angle or knee vagus moment in the ideal world you can then discriminate between those who get injured and those who would not get injured based on a certain cutoff value with 100 sensitivity and specificity those who would have more knee values for example would all get inj

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the key ligaments that help stabilize the knee joint. The ACL connects the thighbone (femur) to the shinbone (tibia). Its most commonly torn during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction such as basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is in the middle of the knee. It prevents the shin bone from sliding out in front of the thigh bone. Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) works with the ACL. It prevents the shin bone from sliding backward under the femur.
The ACL is a tough band of tissue joining the thigh bone to the shin bone at the knee joint. It runs diagonally through the inside of the knee and gives the knee joint stability. It also helps to control the back-and-forth movement of the lower leg.
ACLs are implemented in hardware in the Policy Feature Card (PFC), which uses the source or destination IP address and port number in the packet to index the ACL table. The index has a maximum address length of 128 bits.
To Configure ACLs Create a MAC ACL by specifying a name. Create an IP ACL by specifying a number. Add new rules to the ACL. Configure the match criteria for the rules. Apply the ACL to one or more interfaces.
Why is it important? The purpose of the ACL is to keep the lower leg from sliding in a forward direction (the PCL keeps it from sliding backwards). Most importantly, the ACL aids in the stability of the knee joint, preventing it from shifting during quick side-to-side motion such as shuffling, sidestepping, or cutting.
The ACL can be injured or torn in a number of different ways. The most common mechanism is that of a sudden pivoting or cutting maneuver during sporting activity, which is commonly seen in football, basketball and soccer. The ligament can also tear due to work injuries or automobile accidents.
