[Music] hi my name is ward becker and welcome to another graphana video correlation between metrics logs and traces should be as effortless as possible this helps you make better decisions and actions the grafana labs open source observability stack enables powerful correlation between your metrics logs and traces the key here is to have consistent metadata across the three pillars of observability let me show you how this is done lets start with correlating metrics with logs the prometheus metrics of this application show an increase of 500 errors to understand whats causing these errors we navigate to our logs for additional detail in grafana explorer we split the view to show our metrics and logs side by side our logs are collected in grafana loki which is designed for correlation with prometheus metrics by syncing the time ranges in our split view time selections are automatically applied for both data sources alright lets move on to correlating logs with traces and back to logs
