tone() Description. Generates a square wave of the specified frequency (and 50% duty cycle) on a pin. A duration can be specified, otherwise the wave continues until a call to noTone(). Syntax. tone(pin, frequency) Parameters. pin : the Arduino pin on which to generate the tone. Returns. Nothing.
Basic Sound Output Bit banging is the most basic method of producing sound from an Arduino. Just connect a digital output pin to a small speaker and then rapidly and repeatedly flip the pin between high and low. This is how the Arduinos tone() statement works.
Since tone() only accepts a frequency value as an unsigned int , the maximum frequency you can ask for is 65535 Hz (technically, youll get 65573.77 Hz) - well beyond what the human ear can perceive.
tone() tone. Generates a square wave of the specified frequency and duration (and 50% duty cycle) on a timer channel pin which supports PWM. Use of the tone() function will interfere with PWM output on the selected pin. tone() is generally used to make sounds or music on speakers or piezo buzzers.
The tone function can be used to generate a square wave (50% duty cycle) of a specific frequency on a pin.
tone() and noTone() Produces a tone with the specified frequency on a pin. noTone() turns off the tone leaving the pin in output low state. Those functions are usefull to produce audio feedback to the user.
The Arduino command tone takes two parameters, the first is the pin to play the tone on and the second is the frequency of the tone to play. When all the notes have been played, the noTone command stops that pin playing any tone.
