Lets get started! Head over and select the Horizontal Type Tool. The font Im using is called Bebas Neue. Make sure black is selected for your text. Click near the center. Im going to type Los Angeles. Head over and select your Move Tool. Position the text in the center. Im going to resize the text slightly. Size about 70pt. Head down and create a new layer. Drag it below the text layer. Head over and select the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Make sure Feather is set to 0px. Create a rectangle around the text layer. Right click Fill. Change the Contents: White. Then hit OK. CTRL + D to deselect. Head over and select the Top text layer. Then head over and select the Move Tool. Positon the text in the center of the white rectangle. CTRL + Click on the text layer thumbnail. Then hide the text layer. Then select Layer 1 (White Rectangle) Hold ALT + Mask. Thats it! You can positon the transparent text using your Move Tool. (V) Bring down the opacity if needed.
