A 1099-DIV is voided pretty much in the same manner as a 1099-MISC. File the new form with the correct information (correct code or checkbox, amount, code, name, or address). Check Void, send it to the recipient, and then send another one to the IRS.
You just need to fill out a new, corrected form and mail it out to the IRS, and ensure you mark the corrected box thats at the top of your 1099. This allows the IRS to differentiate your new form from others that are either voided or filed for the first time. Also remember to avoid sending the original copy.
If you already mailed or eFiled your form 1099s to the IRS and now need to make a correction, you will need to file by paper copy a Red Copy A and 1096, fill out and mail to the IRS, if you need further assistance preparing your corrected paper copy, please contact your local tax provider or call the IRS at (800) 829-
Place the correct amount(s) in the correct box(es). If a check box was incorrect on the original submission, select the correct check box. To void an amount, enter 0.00 in the box.
An error can occur with respect to the name, address or may occur because you have written the number wrong on the form.
