whats up guys welcome back to another Revit video in this video well be covering voids all the different types of voids that you can create in a Revit family or in an in-place model voids so if at any point during this video you do learn something please demolish that like button it really does help me out a lot so lets get right into it were looking at voids Im in just a basic generic model family and Ive gone ahead and modeled this 10 by 10 by 10 cube which is just basically extrusion and were gonna start to use the different voids to cut out different types of models from this cube and I will say if you watch previous videos of my Ive covered each one of these different types of modeling extrusions blends revolves sweeps and swept blends and if you notice in the void forms we have the exact same things here except with void so its void extrusion void Blinn void revolve void sweep and void swept blend you can use all of these in the exact same way and they work the exact sa

In the Family Editor, on the Home tab Forms panel, do one of the following: Click (Extrusion). Click Void Forms drop-down (Void Extrusion).
Click in the drawing area, and draw a closed loop that intersects solid geometry. Select the closed loop. Click Modify | Lines tab Form panel Create Form drop-down (Void Form). A void form extrusion is created.
When you create a void form while in the Family Editor, it will appear in the 3D views as a transparent form and as orange lines in plan and elevation views, as long as it is not cutting any solid geometry. So, if its not cutting anything, then itll be orange. Once it cuts something, it should turn black.

Cutting with voids in families when loaded Open the Revit family with unattached voids and click Create tab Properties panel Family Category and Parameters. In the Family Category and Parameters dialog, select Cut With Voids when Loaded and click OK. Load the family into the project and place it.
In the Family Editor, on the Home tab Forms panel, do one of the following. To create a solid sweep, click (Sweep). To create a void sweep, click Void Forms drop-down (Void Sweep).
Cut with Voids When Loaded: When selected, voids created in the family will cut through solids. The following categories can be cut by voids: ceilings, floors, generic models, roofs, structural columns, structural foundations, structural framing, and walls.
Click in the drawing area, and draw a closed loop that intersects solid geometry. Select the closed loop. Click Modify | Lines tab Form panel Create Form drop-down (Void Form). A void form extrusion is created.
