Acceptable resume fonts include Calibri, Cambria, Garamond, Helvetica, Georgia, Tahoma, Verdana, Trebuchet MS, and Book Antiqua. Bad resume fonts include Times New Roman, Courier, Comic Sans, Papyrus, Impact, Futura, Lucida Console, and Arial. The ideal resume font size is between 10 and 12 pt.
Popular professional font choices for resumes include Arial, Cambria, Garamond, and Times New Roman. These typefaces are widely-used and considered appropriate for resume content, as they make information appear organized and concise.
Reverse Chronological Resume Format. This resume format highlights your experience and key professional achievements by listing your latest position and acquired skills first. Its the most popular resume format among recruiters and the one we advise job seekers to use in 99% of cases.
Use a standard font like Times New Roman or Arial, try to stick to only 2-3 font sizes. Your name should be the biggest. Youre good at about 16 to 18 points, followed by your section headings and then, of course, the actual content. And this is where we recommend your average font size be about 10 to 12 point.
Gimmick fonts: Your resume is a professional document, so your font choice should also be professional. Stay away from fonts like Comic Sans, Papyrus, and, of course, Wingdings.
The most common resume red flags are typos, formatting issues, missing or incorrect contact information, employment gaps, overlapping dates, job hopping, lack of customization, lack of achievements, failure to showcase data, unusual add-ons, lack of relevant experience, use of gimmicks, and unwillingness to follow
