Excel has a formatting option for underlining text, but not for overlining it. This video shows a simple trick for overlining text in Excel cells. Step one is creating a line break in an Excel cell using the equal character function. The ASCII code for a line break is numeric 10. Next, create a named range for the cell using Excel named box, with the name "LP". Then, select another cell and enter the text you want to overline. Use the formula equal repeat function with a combination of double quotes, len function, named range lb, and ampersand operator to achieve the overline effect. Increase the row height to display the text with the overline.
