hi and in todays Microsoft Word tutorial Im going to show you how to create a fillable form with all its formatting protected so lets get started okay so once we filled out the basic information in our fillable form we want to insert the different fields that well need for our user to insert some text there are a couple of different fields and I setup this so that I can demonstrate all three of them at the moment those are the basic ones so the first thing you need to do is ensure that you have the Developer tab in your ribbon now if you dont have that if you scroll through to the end of this video theres a short video that shows you how to put it in both a Mac and a PC so the first thing we want to do is add a title field to this cell here and for this one Im going to use a drop-down menu to allow people just to select from the different options so Ill place my cursor in that cell make sure Im on the Developer tab and Im going to go along to this one called combo box now on

Form fields are the building blocks of online forms. They let you collect data from people who fill up your answer sheet. Most form makers include different field types to put your title and objectives and ask various questions.
From the Insert tab on the Ribbon, in the Text group, select Quick Parts and then select Field . In the Field dialog box, from the Field names list, select the field. You can filter this list by selecting Categories . Customize the field by selecting any properties options you desire and then click OK to insert it.
Essentially, fields are variables that are inserted using field codes. Update your fields and your document updates automatically! You normally see the result of a field or variable rather than the codes but you can display field codes.
Fields enable you to quickly insert and update certain types of data in your document. This data is generally information that is subject to change, such as the authors name or the last save date, or a formula total.
Removal of field codes Before re-submitting your revised manuscript after acceptance, open your document in Microsoft Word, select Tools - Endnote (or Reference Manager) - Remove Field Codes - save the manuscript under a new name.
To insert a text box: Select the Insert tab, then click the Text Box command in the Text group. A drop-down menu will appear. Select Draw Text Box. Click and drag anywhere on the document to create the text box.
Press ALT + F9 to toggle Field Codes on/off.
Click the Insert tab and then click the Quick Parts dropdown in the Text group. From the dropdown, choose Fields (Figure A). The resulting dialog lists the Word fields in the Field Names list, which you can filter using the Categories list.
By default, Word is set up to show the actual page numbers. If youre seeing the field codes instead, this means that the setting that controls this in Word accidentally got changed. (Side note: This will also cause {Hyperlink} to show in your references instead of the clickable URL hyperlink.)
