In computer programming, when void is used as a function return type, it indicates that the function does not return a value. When void appears in a pointer declaration, it specifies that the pointer is universal. When used in a functions parameter list, void indicates that the function takes no parameters.
void (C++) When used as a function return type, the void keyword specifies that the function doesnt return a value. When used for a functions parameter list, void specifies that the function takes no parameters. When used in the declaration of a pointer, void specifies that the pointer is universal.
A function into the void type does not return results, and a side-effectful program with type signature IO Void does not terminate, or crashes. In particular, there are no total functions into the void type.
Void Functions The first is a function that prints information for the user to read. For example (for our purposes), the printf function is treated as a void function. (In actuality, printf returns an integer which is the number of characters printed but we almost always ignore this value.)
Void functions are created and used just like value-returning functions except they do not return a value after the function executes. In lieu of a data type, void functions use the keyword void. A void function performs a task, and then control returns back to the caller--but, it does not return a value.
In template definitions, typename provides a hint to the compiler that an unknown identifier is a type. In template parameter lists, its used to specify a type parameter.
