The [[noreturn]] attribute is supposed to be used for functions that dont return to the caller.
A void element is an element in HTML that cannot have any child nodes (i.e., nested elements or text nodes). Void elements only have a start tag; end tags must not be specified for void elements. In HTML, a void element must not have an end tag. For example, is invalid HTML.
C++ attribute: noreturn (since C++11) Indicates that the function does not return.
In short: void f() means f returns not-a-value. [[noreturn]] void g() means g does not return at all; it does something else instead of returning. In C++, a functions return type and its noreturn-ness are independently controllable.
The attribute directive is used to decorate a code declaration in C, C++ and Objective-C programming languages. This gives the declared code additional attributes that would help the compiler incorporate optimizations or elicit useful warnings to the consumer of that code.
attribute((noreturn)) function attribute This function attribute informs the compiler that the function does not return. The compiler can then perform optimizations by removing the code that is never docHubed.
A void element is an element whose content model never allows it to have contents under any circumstances. Void elements can have attributes. The following is a complete list of the void elements in HTML : area , base , br , col , command , embed , hr , img , input , keygen , link , meta , param , source , track , wbr.
The Noreturn keyword was introduced in C11. It tells the compiler that the function its applied to doesnt return to the caller. The compiler knows that the code following a call to a Noreturn function is undocHubable. An example of a function that doesnt return is abort.
